Are You Letting Perfectionism Cage You?

In my first episode of The Uncaged Feminine podcast, I talk about something we all struggle with: perfectionism. That sneaky little voice in your head that convinces you that if it’s not perfect, it’s not worth doing. And let me tell you — it almost stopped me from releasing my very first episode.
You know, I spent so much time tinkering with it, trying to make it "just right," that I nearly caged myself in the process. In this post, I’m going to dive into how I almost let perfectionism rob me of this moment — and how I broke free.
The Birth of a Podcast
When I first started recording this podcast, I had no idea what I was doing. I did have a script. I played around with it, added a few off-the-cuff moments, and felt pretty good about it. But then… of course, I couldn’t leave it alone.
I re-recorded it. Again. And again. And every time I tried to make it more "perfect," it lost something… the authenticity, the rawness, the real me.
The Perfectionism Spiral
I don’t know about you, but I have a long history with perfectionism. It’s that voice telling me, "It’s not good enough. It’s not polished. Wait until it’s perfect." And for a while, I listened.
I got stuck in the editing. The music. The transitions. I even convinced myself that I had to add an intro, an outro, all the things you "should" have in a professional podcast. But guess what happened? Everything felt forced. The more I tried to perfect it, the less I felt it.
And then, tech glitches hit. For someone who's fairly tech-savvy, having everything break down when I’m finally ready to publish was a sign I couldn’t ignore. The universe (or my intuition) was telling me to slow the fuck down.
The New Moon Realization
Then came the New Moon in Leo. And suddenly, everything clicked. If I’m being honest, I was trying to force something to fit that wasn’t meant to be perfect. The New Moon energy made me realize that maybe this podcast isn’t supposed to be perfect yet. Maybe it’s meant to be raw. Messy. Unpolished, kind of like me.
This isn’t about the "perfect" podcast with pristine edits and shiny production. This is about showing up — unapologetically. Messy. Real. A little uncomfortable. But still moving forward.
And so, I decided to publish it anyway.
What Perfectionism is Really Hiding
Here’s the thing: sometimes perfectionism is not really about making something better. It’s about fear. It’s fear of judgment. Fear of failure. Fear of being seen… or not.
Sometimes perfectionism is just an excuse to stay in your comfort zone. To avoid the thing you fear the most: putting your work out there and risking criticism.
But let me tell you something, putting it out there, imperfect as it may be, is the real power. It’s owning your voice, your message, and showing the world who you really are. You don’t have to wait until it’s perfect to start making an impact.
Are You Stuck in Perfectionism?
This podcast episode is just the beginning of my journey to move beyond perfectionism and let my authentic voice shine. But I’m not the only one. Many of us are trapped in that cycle of “not good enough” and it’s keeping us from stepping into our full potential.
So, I want to ask you: Where in your life are you caging yourself in perfectionism? Where are you holding back, waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect conditions, the perfect outcome?
What would happen if you let yourself move forward anyway?

If you’re ready to break free from perfectionism, I’ve got a journal prompt for you:
"Where have I been dimming or delaying my truth in order to appear more put together or out of fear of being seen?"
And remember, you don’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
